Kandy Olinger Joins the Thermo Systems Team: Enhancing Commitment to Safety

We are excited to welcome Kandy Olinger as Thermo Systems’ new Safety Manager. Kandy brings extensive experience and a strong commitment to safety, with a background spanning industries like manufacturing, construction, and healthcare. Her career began at Cargill in Eddyville, IA, where she gained valuable insights through roles in operations, safety committees, and as an EMT and Hazmat Captain. It was through these experiences that Kandy recognized the preventable nature of many incidents, driving her dedication to proactive safety measures.

Kandy has played a key role in reducing injuries through the implementation of successful safety programs. Her work has included initiatives such as a minimal lift program, a fall prevention campaign, and an employee-created training video series. These initiatives not only led to safer workplaces but also fostered a culture where safety achievements were celebrated and recognized.

What attracted Kandy to Thermo Systems was our ability to maintain a strong people-first culture, even as we grow. She looks forward to further embedding this mindset into our safety practices. In the coming months, Kandy will focus on engaging all employees in hazard identification, empowering teams to address at-risk behaviors, and establishing systems that promote open and non-punitive reporting of near misses and safety concerns.

Outside of her professional life, Kandy enjoys traveling, running, and teaching fitness classes at her local YMCA. She has set a personal goal to run a half marathon on every continent. Guided by the belief that “what doesn’t challenge you, doesn’t change you,” Kandy is ready to help Thermo Systems continue its commitment to providing a safe, healthy work environment.

Please join us in welcoming Kandy to the Thermo Systems team!
