In the Q2 2023 edition of the International District Energy Association’s (IDEA) District Energy Magazine, two of Thermo Systems’ engineering leaders share their expertise in providing resilience to Hudson Yards, an 18-million-square-foot urban complex in Manhattan, New York.
The article, titled “Uninterrupted Power in the City That Never Sleeps,” provides an in-depth view of how Thermo Systems utilized a cogeneration plant and microgrid to power the site, which includes 1 million square feet of retail, 18 million square feet of commercial and residential space, 100 shops, 14 acres of public space, a luxury hotel with more than 200 rooms, and even a public school. These efforts increased reliability, quality control, resilience, and fewer emissions, providing the on-site operations team with peace of mind when maintaining Hudson Yards.
