Thermo Systems Kicks Off Cogeneration Project for the University of California at Santa Cruz
Thermo Systems was recently awarded the Process Control System (PCS) engineering and integration contract for the UC Santa Cruz Cogeneration Replacement Plant. Thermo Systems will provide control systems engineering, programming, assembly, and commissioning. In addition Thermo will provide the complete instrumentation package for the Balance of Plant systems.
Nestled among the California redwoods, the new UCSC plant will include a 4.5MW Solar Mercury 50 gas turbine generator and a heat recovery boiler producing 450 GPM at 220 degrees F. The Thermo team will deploy a redundant Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLC platform, a redundant Wonderware IAS SCADA package, a redundant Cisco Ethernet backbone, and an OSI Pi historian.
