Thermo Systems Completes DCS Replacement Project for District Energy Provider
Thermo Systems LLC has successfully completed the DCS to PLC Migration Project at Pepco Energy Service’s (PES) Midtown Thermal Control Center in Atlantic City, NJ. PES sells steam and chilled water to 16 customers in AC; 13 of which are on a District Loop. PES generates monthly customer invoices based on metering data collected at Energy Transfer Stations located along the District Loop at each customer site. Plant control, monitoring and data acquisition was previously accomplished via a legacy and proprietary Yokogawa DCS. Thermo Systems replaced the Yokogawa DCS with non proprietary Rockwell Automation PLC and SCADA solution.
This project was particularly challenging as implementation could not impede PES operations and the commercial sale of thermal energy to the customers. Thermo Systems LLC leveraged our experienced team of engineers to design and deploy a successful turnkey project that has left PES with a non-proprietary, scalable and reliable Plant Control System. Thermo Systems LLC is a Rockwell Automation Solution Partner and a CSIA certified automation engineering firm specializing in the design and construction of mission critical process control systems.
