Thermo Reinforces Commitment to Life Sciences in 2017
When Thermo Systems was founded nearly 20 years ago, one of the company’s very first fields of expertise was in the Life Sciences (biotech and pharmaceutical) industry. Since then, Thermo has successfully developed and executed dozens, if not hundreds, of validated projects in the Life Sciences space. Over the past two decades, Thermo has expanded to serve several other industries, but we’ve always continued to maintain a strong presence in projects within the northeastern Life Sciences “corridor” that runs from Boston down to the Washington, D.C. area.
Now, in 2017, Thermo has expanded our Life Sciences expertise and capabilities by placing local staff near our longtime biotech/pharma customers as well as onboarding more Life Sciences experts such as Glenn Restivo, Director of Life Sciences, Food & Beverage, and CPG. In addition, Thermo has partnered with companies that will allow us to offer enhanced solutions to our customers, such as Rockwell, Wonderware, and OSIsoft® (a leading data historian software provider).
Our reasons for wanting to further grow in the Life Sciences industry are many, but aren’t all business related. In addition to feeling a loyalty for the space, we also understand the impact our commitment can have. Mark Fisher, Thermo’s Senior Director specializing in quality management, commented, “Life Sciences has always been an important part of the Thermo portfolio. Over the years, it has been a significant part of our annual revenue, but doing work in the Life Science arena is more than dollars and cents. It gives our engineers the opportunity to do something that directly improves the quality of life for people around the world. We are very excited to be refocusing our energy on increasing our presence in the Life Science field and to helping people live longer and more fruitful lives.”
