CLIENT PROFILE
Since 2015, Thermo Systems has served as a preferred automation partner for a confidential hyperscale data center client, supporting their rapid global expansion. With projects spanning over 20 campuses and 50+ buildings across North America and Europe, Thermo Systems has executed greenfield and brownfield construction, retrofits, and pilot projects – ranging from 60MW individual facilities to 200MW campus-wide deployments.
To support the client’s fleet-wide goals for standardization, scalability, and speed-to-market, Thermo has deployed Master Automation System solutions, including industrial instrumentation, PLC control panels, SCADA/HMI platforms, and extensive integration of critical/non-critical HVAC and Power Monitoring Systems (PMS).
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Faced with the challenge of a high-volume global deployment requiring standardization and scale, alongside coordination with multiple trades, vendors, and client stakeholders, rapid project schedules with early long-lead equipment decisions, evolving site-specific designs, and the need to synchronize greenfield, brownfield, and pilot project workflows while minimizing commissioning timelines and risk across sites, our team developed a Central Engineering model to manage fleet-wide design, enabling consistent standards and reducing costs. We provided design, schedule, and budget reviews along with preconstruction planning across all projects, supported left-shift schedule strategies through early submittals for long-lead items, and deployed dedicated onsite teams for implementation and commissioning at each location. Our approach delivered scalable solutions that adapted to evolving client design standards and enabled seamless transitions from design to execution across continents. As a result, we achieved fleet-wide design consistency and efficiency, accelerated startup and commissioning, reduced design and implementation costs, established a scalable deployment model with minimal disruptions, strengthened coordination among owners, A/E teams, and GCs, and successfully delivered global solutions with integrated local project execution.
